OUR STORY

Team Florida Track Club was founded in 2016 by Coach Enoch, a former University of Florida distance runner and two-time U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier. His vision was simple: build a welcoming running community where athletes of all abilities could train together, improve, and support one another.

Today, Team FTC is led by Coach Matt Veretto, whose running journey began as an adult in pursuit of better health. In just a few years, Matt progressed from his first 5K to a 2:37 marathon, sub-16-minute 5K, and 100-mile ultramarathon finisher. After moving to Gainesville in 2025, he founded Team FTC Kids and became deeply involved in the local running community.

As a USATF-certified coach, Matt combines evidence-based training with firsthand experience to help runners of every level reach their potential. While Team FTC has grown, its mission remains unchanged: to provide knowledgeable coaching, individualized training, and a supportive community where every runner can pursue their goals, whether that's finishing a first race or chasing a personal best.

Based in Gainesville, Florida, Team FTC also offers online coaching for runners around the world.

Our Team

Matt Veretto

COACH

Matt Veretto was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona and moved to Gainesville in April 2025. After spending several years as a Software Engineer, Matt stepped away from tech to pursue work that is more aligned with the running passion that helped reshape his life. He is a USATF-certified coach and founded Team FTC Kids in July 2025 to help young runners find the same joy, confidence, and community that running has brought him.
Matt began running in May 2023 simply to improve his health, but the sport quickly became much more than that. Within six months he found himself at the start line of his first trail 50K, falling in love with the challenge and sense of purpose that distance running offers. Today, his interests range from 5Ks to 100-mile ultras, and he enjoys helping others discover their own version of that journey.

As a coach, Matt believes in fostering a love for running through consistency and community, and he emphasizes making the sport fun and accessible at every level. He’s married with three young kids, and when he’s not coaching, training or racing, he’s either spending time with his family or with Team FTC Kids, working with the next generation of runners.

PHOTOGRAPHER

Matt is the Marketing and Communications photographer for Santa Fe College in Gainesville. He's also a freelance photographer shooting a variety of sporting events around the country for the Associated Press, The College Football Playoffs, USA Today, and the Florida Gators. Stamey's completed three full marathons and 13 half marathons and joined Team FTC in 2019.
